Here the first sight of the Arabia’s massive treasure will greet you. Amazingly, much of the cargo was produced in foreign lands and journeyed to this country by steam and by sail.
A visit is not complete without a sample of the fragrance found on the Arabia. Several bottles of French perfume were recovered – pleasant scent intact – even after 132 years. Samples of the fragrances were sent to International Flavors and Fragrances in New York, where they were analyzed and copied.
The IFF believes it to be the oldest intact perfume in the world. Visitors can try on the reproduced fragrance and experience first-hand one of the finer things reaching the frontier.
